Zelenskyy: It feels easier to abolish President's Office than appoint new head

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has suggested that it might be easier to abolish the President's Office than to appoint a new head.

Quote: "You know, honestly, I'll be frank with you, there are so many issues and proposals, exchanges of views. Honestly, the war is far more important, so it feels like it'd be easier to abolish the Office than appoint someone."

Details: Regarding the corruption case in Energoatom, Ukraine's state-owned nuclear energy company, Zelenskyy added that a reset and a thorough check are needed before appointing people to avoid risks in the future.

Quote: "If it is a competitive selection, then it should be a competitive selection. If not, then the anti-corruption bodies, law enforcement agencies, all our institutions responsible for this, for the security of anti-corruption policy, must provide the relevant information so that we no longer face certain risks. And we will fully support the work of all the relevant institutions."

Background: On 8 December, Zelenskyy announced his candidates for the position of head of the President's Office. They are Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, Defence Intelligence Head Kyrylo Budanov, Deputy Foreign Minister Serhii Kyslytsia, and Pavlo Palisa, Deputy Head of the President's Office.
