Russian forces attack Ukraine with Iskander-M and 116 drones: air defence downs over 109 UAVs, missile hits its target

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 116 Shahed (some of them jet-powered), Gerbera and Italmas loitering munitions and Parodiya decoy drones on the night of 20-21 May.

Details: Early reports indicated that as of 08:30, Ukrainian air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 109 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones in the country's north, south and east.

Hits by a ballistic missile and five UAVs have been recorded at five locations, and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at four locations.

Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack.

Several Russian UAVs are still in Ukrainian airspace.
