Details: David van Weel said that during the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council participants have stressed the need to keep Ukraine strong, particularly amid the ongoing talks on possible parameters for ending the war, and underlined that both Ukraine and Europe must have a full say in this process.

Quote: "Today, the Netherlands announced an allocation of €35 million through UCAP [NATO's Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine – ed.] – funding medical supplies, equipment and other practical support to help Ukrainian forces get through the winter."

More details: Van Weel mentioned the recently announced Dutch contribution of €250 million for the purchase of US-made weapons for Ukraine under NATO's Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative.

Quote: "The Netherlands is also allocating a substantial share of its €250 million PURL contribution to a military support package with Norway and Germany. This package meets Ukraine's urgent needs and will be delivered soon."

Background:

  • Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported that the recent NATO ministers' meeting has produced agreements on around US$1 billion worth of weapons supplies under the PURL initiative.
  • Norway's Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide announced a further US$500 million of support and Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said that Poland's contribution to the PURL initiative will amount to US$100 million.
