Court acquits key witness in case against anti-corruption bureau detective Mahamedrasulov
The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv has acquitted Yusuf Mameshev, a key witness in the case against National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) detective Ruslan Mahamedrasulov.

Details: The decision was handed down by Judge Yevhen Martynov.
He acquitted Mameshev on the grounds that there was a lack of evidence proving that his actions constituted a criminal offence.
Quote from Anti-Corruption Action Centre: "The judge also revoked the previously imposed pre-trial restriction requiring a personal undertaking.
Mameshev's testimony completely undermines the version put forward by Security Service of Ukraine investigators and prosecutors led by Ruslan Kravchenko, who claimed that detective Mahamedrasulov was 'trading cannabis' with Russia."
Details: The Office of the Prosecutor General told hromadske that it disagrees with the court's decision and will appeal it.
The prosecution added that its position remains unchanged: the evidence collected in the criminal proceedings provided grounds to uphold the charges in court.
Quote from the prosecutor: "Meanwhile, we emphasise that any claims about an alleged 'fabricated case' are speculative statements by the defence and do not remove the prosecution's procedural right to seek a review of the decision in accordance with the law."
Background:
- Ruslan Mahamedrasulov is the head of one of NABU's interregional detective divisions, coordinating the Bureau's work in the frontline oblasts of Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia from Dnipro.
- The Security Service of Ukraine claimed that the official had had contact with Russian representatives and helped his father, a businessman, conduct illegal trade with Russia.
- The Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv remanded Mahamedrasulov, suspected of assisting Russia, in custody as a pre-trial restriction with no option for bail. The detention period was set until 16 September 2025.
- Mahamedrasulov was one of the key staff documenting the activities of businessman Tymur Mindich, co-owner of Kvartal 95, the Ukrainian production company Volodymyr Zelenskyy founded before he became president.
- Sources in business circles told Ukrainska Pravda that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office managed to record Mindich's voice in an apartment at the same address where Zelenskyy celebrated his birthday five years ago.
