Convicted felon stole $20K in St. Louis County home burglary: Police
CLAYTON, Mo. – A Lemay woman was arrested this week for allegedly breaking into a south St. Louis County home and stealing tens of thousands of dollars in cash.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the break-in happened on Monday, Sept.15, in the 400 block of Sylvan Springs Road.
Police said Dusty L. Harris and a cohort took the hinges off an entry door and went inside. Harris and this second person stole $20,000 and a gun from the home.
Harris was taken into custody on Sept. 16 after investigators received a tip while responding to an unrelated incident.
Police went to Harris’ home that day and found the stolen firearm in her bedroom.
Harris has a prior conviction for stealing in February 2014 and is prohibited from having a gun.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Harris with second-degree burglary, stealing – $750 or more, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Harris remains jailed on a $15,000 cash-only bond. Online jail records indicate she’s due in court on Thursday, Sept. 18.
