Blinken met today with Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamikawa Yoko and reaffirmed the vital importance of the ironclad U.S.-Japan Alliance in promoting global peace, security, and prosperity. Secretary Blinken expressed his condolences for those who lost their lives in the January 1 earthquake in Ishikawa Prefecture, as well as in the January 2 collision of a Japan Coast Guard aircraft and a passenger aircraft at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.
