Zelenskyy's sanctions commissioner: 25% of American components in Russian weapons are counterfeit

A quarter of American components found in Russian weapons are counterfeit, according to Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Commissioner for Sanctions Policy.

Quote from Vlasiuk: "Twenty-five per cent of American components are counterfeit."

Details: Vlasiuk said the Russians deliberately erase serial numbers on weapons they use.

He added that the Ukrainian side maintains regular contact with its Chinese counterparts and passes on data about Chinese components found in Russian weapons.

"We pass it on constantly," Vlasiuk said. "Everything left from what they [Russian forces] use in strikes is dismantled, and it is usually sorted by country, and each country receives a separate file. Our Chinese partners also got a file."

Background: Vlasiuk reported earlier that new components produced in 2025 in the US as well as European and Asian countries had been found in Russian UAVs.

Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has repeatedly reported the presence of foreign components in Russian weaponry. The Klin attack UAV, the S-71K Kovyor and Izdelie-30 cruise missiles, and the Geran-5 loitering munition all contain US-made components.
