Zelenskyy: US$15bn needed to procure US weapons for Ukraine in 2026
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that US$15 billion is required for the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), an initiative under which NATO allies fund the purchase of US-made weapons for Ukraine.

Details: Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of PURL, which enables Ukraine to receive essential air defence systems, among other things.
Quote: "By the way, I want to thank [NATO Secretary General] Mark Rutte for reminding all leaders: let's find some additional money, because we need US$15 billion for the PURL programme for one year."
Details: Zelenskyy added that the programme is still short of "about US$800 million" for 2025, following the Netherlands' announcement of a €700 million contribution earlier on Monday.
"So we are counting on ourselves, the US, we are fighting, looking for money for PURL, working together with everyone," Zelenskyy said.
Background:
- Since the launch of NATO's PURL initiative, 21 countries have joined, contributing a total of more than US$4 billion.
- A NATO ministers' meeting in Brussels in early December resulted in agreements on the supply of approximately US$1 billion worth of weapons under the PURL initiative.
