Details: Answering a question from journalists about the risks of cuts in international aid, Zelenskyy noted that the total amount of aid he is seeking to secure for 2026-2027 is roughly US$90 billion.
He reminded the journalists that some of the money comes from Ukraine's European partners under around 30 bilateral agreements and stressed that it is vital for Ukraine that there is no reduction in these amounts.
Separately, he mentioned the possible use of frozen Russian assets or alternative financing mechanisms linked to these assets. "We are fighting for this and no one is giving up," the president concluded.
Background: The European Commission has proposed splitting the reparations loan into two strands of support for Ukraine: weapons production/procurement and budget support. Budget support will amount to €90 billion and will be provided over a period of two years.
