Quote: "Overnight, our warriors applied Ukraine's long-range sanctions against an oil refinery in Russia's Saratov – about 700 kilometres from the frontline. An important result. Thank you! There were also strikes in Rostov and Kirov oblasts, as well as at a military base on the Caspian Sea coast."

Details: The president noted that Ukraine's defence forces are carrying out long-range tasks in accordance with the approved priorities of the "sanctions" plan.

This week, targets were also struck in Yaroslavl, Ryazan, Voronezh, Volgograd, Rostov, Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod and Krasnodar oblasts at distances of between 300 and 1,200 kilometres from Ukraine's state border, Zelenskyy added.

Background:

  • Reports citing social media earlier indicated that on the night of 30-31 May, strike drones attacked the Saratov oil refinery, causing a large-scale fire on the facility's territory.
  • Robert "Magyar" Brovdi, Commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, reported that in May 2026, the Unmanned Systems Forces struck 18 oil and gas facilities controlled by Russia on Russian territory and occupied lands.
