Details: Energoatom reported that at 23:44 on 2 June, the plant completely lost external power supply after the Ferosplavna-1 power transmission line was disconnected.
Critical systems continued to operate using backup diesel generators.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that the outage was caused by a drone strike on the Nikopolska substation, located on the opposite bank of the Dnipro River from the ZNPP.
Background:
- The ZNPP has been relying on a single external power supply line for the past two months.
- More than 160 UAVs were recorded flying over the South Ukraine, Rivne and Chornobyl nuclear power plants during Russian attacks on 13 and 14 May.
