Woman stabbed during robbery in south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS - A woman was left injured Thursday morning after being stabbed during a robbery in south St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the robbery happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. on the 3700 block of Chippewa Street in south St. Louis' Dutchtown neighborhood.

The robbery occurred as the victim, a 29-year-old woman, was sitting inside her vehicle on Chippewa Street, police said.

At some point, the victim says an unknown woman opened the car door and told her not to move while threatening her with a knife. Police say the victim attempted to grab the knife away from the suspect but was stabbed in the neck while doing so.

The victim ran from the scene after being injured, according to police. The suspect took the victim's purse, which contained money.

The 29-year-old woman received treatment from EMS before being transported to a nearby hospital. The woman was listed in serious but stable condition after the stabbing.
