Woman from Dulzura dies after crashing vehicle in Jamul
JAMUL, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A woman died in Jamul after her vehicle overturned onto a freeway embankment early Wednesday morning.
The crash happened around 6:15 a.m. on State Route 94 near Otay Lakes Rd., according to California Highway Patrol officers.
Officers said the 25-year-old woman was driving a Hyundai Elantra eastbound on SR-94 when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered across the freeway onto the westbound lane and overturned onto an embankment.
The driver was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from her seat. She then became trapped underneath the vehicle and died at the scene, officers said.
While this is an ongoing investigation, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to authorities.
