Woman dies in hit-and-run crash near Port of San Diego
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI)-- Port of San Diego Harbor Police are asking for the public's help regarding a fatal hit-and-run incident that left one woman dead near North Harbor Drive on Friday.
At around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person down on the westbound lanes near the 4400 block of North Harbor Drive, according to police.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult woman with severe injuries that police suspect came from being struck by a vehicle, according to the report.
The police said first responders attempted lifesaving measures on the woman, but she died at the scene. The woman has yet to be identified by police.
The vehicle involved did not remain on the scene and left before the Harbor Police arrived. According to the police, the suspected vehicle may have sustained front-end damage as a result of the crash.
The Harbor Police are investigating the incident as a fatal hit-and-run and are asking for the public's help to identify the suspected driver and vehicle involved.
