Senate Democratic leaders on Tuesday morning will hold a news conference as the clock ticks for lawmakers to extend premium subsidies under the Affordable Care Act.
Democrats in both chambers of Congress have pushed their Republican counterparts to extend the enhanced tax credits before they get on board with any bill to avert a government shutdown. Lawmakers have extended the subsidies, which were passed during the COVID-19 pandemic, twice already.
The deadline to prevent a lapse in funding in Sept. 30. The press conference is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. EDT.
