Victim in deadly Ocean Beach shooting identified
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Authorities have identified the man who was fatally shot last week in Ocean Beach.
According to San Diego police, the shooting happened just before 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10 near 5000 Newport Ave. and the popular restaurant, Hodad's.
When officers arrived, they found a man with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, the man did not survive his injuries, police said.
On Monday, authorities identified the victim as 22-year-old Joseph Bojorquez Jr. of San Diego.
Investigators said Bojorquez Jr. had been involved in a confrontation with two men in a parking lot prior to the shooting. He punched one of the men, which led to the second man pulling out a handgun and shooting Bojorquez Jr., police stated.
The suspected shooter and the other man then fled the area on foot down the north alley of 5000 Newport Ave. before they turned north toward Santa Monica Avenue.
Photos of the suspects were provided by the San Diego Police Department on Friday.
