Details: The meeting follows the talks on 19 December between the United States and Ukrainian and European officials on the latest version of the "peace plan", which has raised some hope of a settlement.

Kirill Dmitriev, an envoy of the Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, is leading the Russian delegation. He is due to meet property mogul turned diplomat Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State and Trump's national security adviser, has said he may also join the talks.

Previous meetings have taken place at Witkoff's golf club in Miami's Hallandale Beach.

Earlier this week, US, Ukrainian and European officials reported progress on security guarantees for Kyiv as part of negotiations to end the war, though it remains unclear whether the terms would be acceptable to Moscow.

A Russian source told Reuters that any meeting between Dmitriev and Ukrainian negotiators had been ruled out.

US intelligence officials continue to warn that Putin intends to seize all of Ukraine, sources familiar with the intelligence said, which contradicts the claims by some US officials that Moscow is ready for peace.

Rubio said on Friday 20 December that the United States had made "significant progress" in talks on Ukraine but warned there are "ways to go".
