SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Japanese casual wear designer brand Uniqlo is opening its second store in San Diego this week after months of anticipation.

Uniqlo will open a new store in the Fashion Valley shopping center, which is managed by Simon Property Group.

Earlier this year, Fashion Valley teased that Uniqlo would join its list of retailers with a video posted to its Instagram account. The brief video showed someone holding a sign at the Fashion Valley mall that simply said, "Coming soon," before panning to a banner with the Uniqlo logo and the words "Opening Fall 2025."

The new store will open in the space formerly occupied by Forever 21 on the second floor near Bloomingdale's, according to the mall directory.

San Diego welcomed its first Uniqlo location at the Westfield UTC mall in University City last fall, with more than a thousand people lined outside of the store on its opening day.

The Tokyo-founded brand has gained recognition for its more affordable take on timeless pieces including knit sweaters, lightweight windbreakers, and cotton basic layers.

During last year's Superbowl halftime performance featuring Kendrick Lamar, the brand touted the tops worn by Lamar's background dancers as its "Uniqlo U AIRism Cotton Oversized" T-shirts.

The company opened its first store in the U.S. in 2005. Uniqlo is considered one of the largest apparel retailers in the world, compared alongside fast-fashion powerhouses like H&M and Zara.
