Quote: "Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works has been struck for the second time in a month by officers from the SSU's Main Directorate in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, working with fellow officers from the 1st Separate Centre of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is one of the key industrial facilities used by the occupiers to support their military production."
Details: The plant's products are supplied to Russia's Uralvagonzavod, which manufactures military equipment for the Russian forces, particularly T-90M Proryv tanks and Msta-S howitzers.
After Ukrainian forces identified the location of the plant's critical production facilities, FP-2 drones made by Fire Point, a Ukrainian defence technology company, struck them.
Quote: "The strike has caused damage to blast furnaces, key production workshops, distillation towers, gas pipelines and electrical substations supporting the plant's operations. The plant has stopped operating due to the damage caused by the attack."
Background:
- The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence reported that a total of 15 Russian strategic facilities, specifically five plants and 10 oil refining sites, had been struck in March 2026 in what has become one of the largest campaigns of its kind implemented by Ukrainian defence forces.
- A large fire was recorded after a Ukrainian strike on Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works.
