Details: "There is such a missile, and it is produced by our manufacturers," Arsen Zhumadilov replied when asked whether specifically Ukrainian missiles were being procured.
However, Zhumadilov declined to specify whether the missiles were developments from the period of Ukraine's independence or based on Soviet-era designs.
"Anything, even if it dates back to Soviet times, is not an identical product to what it was in the Soviet era. It is still being refined and further developed. It undergoes the necessary testing. Modernisation is ongoing, and this process is continuous across the entire range," he stressed.
When asked whether anti-aircraft missile systems were included in procurement contracts, Zhumadilov was reported to have confirmed that such systems were indeed being purchased, though he did not clarify whether Ukrainian-made complexes were among them.
Background: A Ukrainian company recently presented a project for a multi-calibre surface-to-air missile system at the stand of the National Association of Defence Industries of Ukraine (NAUDI) during the World Defence Show 2026 in Saudi Arabia. The system has reportedly undergone testing with five types of missiles, including Soviet-era rockets and foreign models, as well as missiles produced in Ukraine.
