Ukraine’s special forces disabled the rail bridge feeding Russian-occupied Crimea

A Ukrainian drone unit disabled a key railway bridge in the middle of the eastern part of Russian-occupied Crimea overnight, the country's Special Operations Forces (SSO) confirmed, sharing the photos of the damage. The hit extends a widening effort to cut the peninsula's supply lines. A fresh wave of explosions then rolled across western and northern Crimea into the morning of 19 June.
"Faster than the enemy can lay rails"
The SSO confirmed the strike on the morning of 19 June. It said its MiddleStrike unit, Balista, disabled the rail bridge near Rozdolne overnight on 18 June. The bridge crosses the North Crimean Canal.
"Special Operations Forces drones are changing the rules of the game faster than the enemy can lay rails," the unit wrote.
MiddleStrike is a Ukrainian program designed to strike Russian logistics deep behind the front lines.
Footage from the strike drones showed the rails twisted and torn before the warhead arrived. The SSO said it would keep striking the enemy to weaken its capabilities and halt its aggression.
Why one bridge can stop the trains
The Kerch–Dzhankoi line carries Russian military freight and personnel across the peninsula once they cross the Kerch Bridge from Russia. The Crimea-monitoring Telegram channel Krymsky Veter called it the most important bridge on that line.
If it is damaged, freight and passenger rail traffic into Crimea would be fully paralyzed, the channel said. Trains from Russia could then reach only the Vladyslavivka junction or Feodosia. Satellite data also showed a fire on the railway near Vladyslavivka station, a key eastern hub.

The same crossing had been hit overnight on 18 June, a strike monitor channels reported as roughly 20 explosions and a large fire.
A night of explosions across occupied Crimea
Late on 18 June, monitors reported drones and heavy-caliber gunfire across western Crimea. Residents heard blasts in Armiansk, including toward the Crimean Titan chemical plant, with gunfire until dawn.
Around a dozen explosions s were heard at Hvardiiske, site of a Russian military airfield, between late evening and 1 a.m. Drones also passed over Sevastopol, the Bakhchysarai district, and the Kacha and Saky airfields.
Over the village of Uhlove, the channel logged a drone drifting by "on its own business." In the Krasnoperekopsk district, subscribers reported drones, gunfire, and what sounded like a jet drone or a fighter.
Russia's Defense Ministry claimed its air defenses downed 133 drones over 11 regions, occupied Crimea, and the Black Sea on the morning of 19 June. It did not say how many flew over Crimea or how many got through.
