Details: Sybiha said he plans to meet his Georgian counterpart Maka Botchorishvili in Moldova on 14 or 15 May, when the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe is set to meet in Chișinău.
He described a recent meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in the Armenian capital Yerevan as "historic".
Quote: "We are open to continuing this constructive dialogue. In Moldova in the nearest future, I will have the meeting with my counterpart from Georgia. So we want to settle properly diplomatic track of our bilateral relations."
Background:
- On 4 May, Zelenskyy met Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Armenia.
- In 2024, Kobakhidze and a number of other members of the Georgian ruling party were sanctioned by Ukraine and banned from entering the country for 10 years.
- After his conversation with Zelenskyy, Kobakhidze noted that despite the present difficulties, the two countries share "a very long history of friendship", and the Georgian side is ready to do everything it can to normalise relations between Georgia and Ukraine.
