Ukraine opens battlefield data for AI training to partners, Defence Ministry reports
Ukraine is opening the possibility of training AI models for unmanned systems using real battlefield data.

Details: The ministry said the Cabinet of Ministers (Ukrainian government) has adopted a resolution launching a new format of cooperation between the state, Ukrainian companies and international partners.
"The future of warfare belongs to autonomous systems. Our task is to enhance the autonomy of drones and other combat systems so that they can detect targets more quickly, analyse the situation, and help inform decisions on the battlefield," Ukraine's Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said.
He noted that the key to this is high-quality data for training neural networks. For this purpose, a special AI platform has been created at the Defence Ministry's Centre for Innovation and Development of Defence Technologies, which allows the following:
- secure training of models without direct access to sensitive databases
- work with large arrays of annotated photo and video materials
- use data that are constantly updated
Quote: "Ukraine today possesses a unique battlefield dataset unavailable anywhere else in the world. It includes millions of annotated frames collected during tens of thousands of combat flights. These data are already used to train neural networks that automatically identify ground and aerial targets in the DELTA system."
Details: The defence ministry says international partners and Ukrainian companies have strong demand for such data for the development and modernisation of defence technologies.
Fedorov noted that partners will be able to train their AI models "on real data from modern warfare". And Ukraine will gain faster development of autonomous systems and new technological solutions for the front.
"We are ready to work with partners on joint analytics, model training and the development of new technological solutions," the defence minister added.
Background: In January, Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation announced the launch of Brave1 Dataroom, a secure environment for testing and training new AI models based on real data from the front.
