Ukraine's Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has announced the launch of the TrophyLab platform to provide open access to Russian weapons technologies for partners worldwide.

Details: Fedorov explained that since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukrainian military personnel, scientific institutions and research centres have been studying captured equipment. They analyse components, technological solutions and vulnerabilities in order to develop effective countermeasures more rapidly.

According to Mykhailo Fedorov, this knowledge is now being made available to those working to strengthen defence capabilities.

"The Ministry of Defence is launching the TrophyLab platform – a space that provides verified users with access to information on modern Russian weaponry. Ukraine will grant access to Russian technologies to our partners. Companies, research centres and governments of the free world will be able to study Russian missiles and other types of armaments in detail," Fedorov emphasised.

The platform provides access to research results on captured equipment for the following:

  • Ukrainian defence technology manufacturers
  • military units
  • scientific institutions
  • international partners supporting Ukraine

Fedorov noted that users will gain access to technical documentation, research findings and analytical materials on modern Russian weapons. In addition, the platform enables users to submit requests for physical examination of captured samples.

"Several formats for working with samples are envisaged: from non-destructive examination to testing involving full disassembly or destruction of the item. This allows engineers to test their own solutions on real enemy equipment and significantly shorten the development cycle of countermeasure technologies," he stressed.

Notably, a US start-up, Enabled Intelligence, has recently opened access to drone footage recorded during the war in Ukraine for training artificial intelligence models. The company's library has been expanded with a dataset comprising over half a million videos.
