Ukraine hits Ryazan oil refinery and Alchevsk steel plant in occupied Luhansk Oblast
Ukraine's defence forces have struck the Ryazan oil refinery in Russia and the Alchevsk steelworks in Russian-occupied Luhansk Oblast.

Quote: "On the night of 5-6 December, units of [Ukraine's] defence forces targeted infrastructure at the Ryazan refinery in Russia's Ryazan Oblast to reduce the capabilities of Russia's armed forces."
Details: The General Staff said that hits were recorded at the low-temperature isomerisation unit. The extent of the damage is being confirmed.
The General Staff added that the Ryazan refinery, with a processing capacity of 17.1 million tonnes of oil per year, is among Russia's largest. It produces A-92/95/98/100 petrol, jet fuel, diesel and other products and is involved in supplying the Russian forces.
The General Staff also reported that the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant in Russian-occupied Luhansk Oblast was hit as part of efforts to reduce Russia's offensive capabilities. The plant is described as producing components for shell casings on orders from Russia's Defence Ministry.
Hits and a fire were recorded at the site. The results and scale of damage are being confirmed.
Quote: "[Ukraine's] defence forces continue to take measures to reduce the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor, the supply of fuel and lubricants and ammunition to the invading troops and to force Russia to stop its armed aggression against Ukraine."
Background: On the night of 5-6 December, Russian social media and officials reported that the oil refinery in Russia's Ryazan was targeted by drones. Russian Telegram channel Astra said that this was at least the 9th attack on the Ryazan oil refinery since the start of 2025.
