Quote: "The synchronisation of EU sanctions as part of the 20th package covers 120 individuals and organisations and introduces economic sanctions targeting key sectors of the Russian economy."

Details: Some of those listed were already under Ukrainian sanctions. The latest decision concerns a further 16 Russian citizens and 31 companies from Russia, Belarus, the United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.

The individuals included heads of Russian strategic companies, budget-funded institutions, Russian armed forces' units and entities serving Russia in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

The list also included companies in Russia's defence industry, manufacturers of electronic warfare systems, software and drone components, as well as oil, gas and gold mining companies. Specifically, restrictions were imposed on Atlant Aero LLC, a Russian manufacturer of aerospace products and drone components, and Irz-Sviaz LLC, a Russian manufacturer of communications systems and components for UAVs and missiles.

Sanctions were also imposed on companies in the UAE that sell machine tools and laboratory equipment, chemical products and spare parts for commercial aircraft, as well as on an oil exporter in Belarus.

Ukraine also applied restrictive measures against three Russians: prosecutor Lyudmila Balandina, who was involved in systematic repression and human rights violations against people who supported Ukraine or criticised the Russian authorities; judge Dmitry Gordeyev, also involved in repression and in issuing politically motivated rulings against opposition figures and human rights defenders; and Russian editor and propagandist Maria Sittel, who systematically spread disinformation.

Sanctions restrictions were also imposed on 19 Iranian citizens, 7 Sudanese citizens and 11 Iranian companies operating within Iran's ballistic missile and drone production programmes.

Quote from Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Commissioner for Sanctions Policy: "We continue to synchronise sanctions regimes with the EU and our partners. We expect further pressure on Russia and on everyone helping it sustain its aggression.

We are already finalising joint work on drafts of the next sanctions decisions by the EU and partner states, including the 21st sanctions package."
