UK defence secretary: Russia is advising Iran on tactics for using Shahed drones
UK Defence Secretary John Healey has said that Russia is providing Iran with tactical guidance on the use of kamikaze drones against the US and its allies.

Details: During a visit to the UK's Northwood Headquarters, Healey was told by Lieutenant General Nick Perry, Chief of Joint Operations, that Iranian drone operators are increasingly adopting Russian tactics.
Perry said that Iranian forces have begun launching drones at significantly lower altitudes, which makes them more effective when striking targets and poses a serious challenge for air defence systems.
Quote from Healey: "I think no one will be surprised to believe that Putin's hidden hand is behind some of the Iranian tactics and potentially, potentially some of their capabilities as well."
Details: Healey stressed that Vladimir Putin is the only global leader who directly benefits from the escalation in the Middle East.
According to The Guardian, Iran has launched over 2,000 Shahed drones across the Middle East since 28 February. American sources said that Moscow has been providing Tehran with military intelligence in exchange for supplying weapons over the past two weeks.
Background:
- The Washington Post reported that Russia is providing Iran with information about targets for attacks on US troops in the Middle East.
- US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said he is not concerned that Russia is sharing intelligence with Iran for strikes on American military positions.
- Russian-made components were found in a kamikaze drone that had attacked a British airbase in Cyprus.
