U-City community unites for National Night Out, Back-To-School Rally

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. - Police and community members in University City came together Tuesday evening for the annual National Night Out and Back-To-School Rally at Centennial Park.

National Night Out is all about positivity and creating positive relationships between police and residents.

Plenty of celebrations and block parties are planned in many locations throughout St. Louis.

Tonight, in University City included food, music and different vendors. The whole idea of National Night Out is to help strengthen the trust between communities and law enforcement, making neighborhoods safe.

National Night Out has been going on for years and in many places; it happens on the first Tuesday in August, but it was moved in some areas, including St. Louis City, to the first Tuesday in October because of the extreme summer heat.
