Two pedestrians killed in separate train accidents in Carlsbad and Vista
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Authorities are investigating after two people were killed in two separate train collisions in northern San Diego County in the past week.
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a COASTER train in the area of Chestnut Avenue and Washington Street, south of Carlsbad Village Drive, in Carlsbad around 8:41 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, according to the North County Transit District (NCTD).
The fatal collision stopped COASTER service in the area south of the Carlsbad Village Station and a BREEZE bus was brought in to transport riders.
In a separate incident, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a SPRINTER train in Vista at 8:58 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, according to NCTD.
The train tracks were closed after the fatal collision and NCTD brought in a BREEZE bus to transport riders.
NCTD says in both incidents, the pedestrians were reported to be trespassing on the train tracks when they were struck. Their identities have not yet been released.
