Two injured in early morning ATV rollover near U.S.-Mexico border

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Emergency crews responded to an ATV rollover crash early Saturday morning that left two individuals injured, according to officials with Cal Fire San Diego. The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. in a remote area north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

First responders from Cal Fire, U.S. Border Patrol, and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department coordinated the rescue operation. Despite the rugged terrain and location of the crash, officials were able to access the scene and safely evacuate the victims.

At least one of the individuals was transported to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries remains unclear at this time. According to authorities, they were the only people involved in the all-terrain vehicle crash.

The cause of the crash is unknown and remains under investigation.
