EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI)— A candlelight vigil for Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder and political activist Charlie Kirk, 31, will be held Wednesday night at Foothills Christian Church in El Cajon.

According to Turning Point USA at San Diego State University, in a GoFundMe post, the vigil will "honor the life and legacy" of Kirk.

"Charlie inspired so many with his faith, courage, and leadership," said the TPUSA SDSU Chapter in the post. "This vigil will bring together students, families, and community members to pray, reflect, and carry forward his mission."

The suspected assassin, Tyler Robinson, 22, made a virtual court appearance Tuesday around noon, days after being arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting Kirk Sept. 10, while he was speaking to and debating students at Utah Valley University.

The Utah County District Attorney's Office charged Robinson with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, felony obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and commission of a violence offense in the presence of a child.

Utah County District Attorney Jeffrey Gray said at the press conference that they also filed a notice of intent to seek the death penalty for the 22-year-old Utah resident. Robinson is being held in custody with no bail.

A public memorial for the conservative activist is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 21, at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and other top White House officials are expected to attend the memorial.

"The organization [TPUSA] has received over 32,000 inquiries in the last 48 hours to start new campus chapters," Andrew Kolvet, spokesperson and executive producer of “The Charlie Kirk Show,” said in an X post on Sept. 13. According to Kolvet, the organization currently has 900 college chapters and 1,200 high school chapters nationwide.

To attend the memorial Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., TPUSA SDSU Chapter is providing an RSVP link for those interested.
