Videos and photographs released on social media show thick smoke rising above the site of the oil refinery in Tuapse in Russia. Local authorities reported earlier that there had been a "drone attack".

Details: Media outlets released a Planet.com satellite image showing the fire at the refinery.

The picture had been taken at about 12:00.

Earlier, local Telegram channels had posted videos of the fire at the oil refinery. They suggested the blaze might have spread to nearby storage tanks.

Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratyev confirmed that "numerous pieces of debris" had fallen on unnamed plants near the seaport.

It operates as an integrated production complex together with the company's marine terminal for petroleum product logistics, Rosneft's RN Tuapse Marine Terminal. The refinery is owned by Russian oil giant Rosneft.
