Details: Trump said the US has a plan under which all bridges and power plants in Iran could be destroyed within hours.

"Complete demolition by 12 o'clock [midnight Eastern Time], and it will happen over a period of four hours if we want it to. We don't want that to happen. We don't want that to happen," he said.

Background:

  • Over the weekend, Trump set a new deadline for Iran to comply with his ultimatum – 20:00 Eastern Time.
  • He also warned Iran of worse things than the destruction of bridges and power plants.
  • "The entire country can be taken out in one night – and that night might be tomorrow night," the US president added.
  • Trump said he is not concerned that such strikes on civilian infrastructure could be considered war crimes.
