Trump receives first-ever FIFA Peace Prize during 2026 World Cup draw

US President Donald Trump has been awarded the first-ever FIFA Peace Prize during the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The prize was presented by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Background:

The Peace Prize, announced on 5 November, is intended to honour individuals who have helped unite people worldwide for peace. The prize will be awarded to those who have taken exceptional measures to achieve peace and unite people.
Previously, it was reported that the Iranian delegation would be unable to attend the group stage draw for the 2026 World Cup due to Trump's decision.
The main stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place from 11 June to 19 July 2026 across the US, Mexico and Canada.
