Transfer refused for man who gunned down pastor
MADISON COUNTY, Ill. - A Madison County judge has denied Terry Sedlacek's request to be transferred from Alton Mental Health Center to a non-secure facility.
Sedlacek, 43, who killed Pastor Fred Winters during a church service in Maryville in 2009, also had his request for supervised outings denied by the judge.
During the '09 shooting, Sedlacek's gun jammed, allowing church members to overpower him. In 2015, Sedlacek was found not guilty by reason of insanity for the death of Winters.
