Torrential rain, hail possible for parts of San Diego County this week

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Some parts of San Diego County could see more precipitation at the start of the work week, thanks to increased monsoonal moisture sweeping through the region.

Following a weekend of rain and lightning from the coast to the deserts, more chances of thunderstorms are heading into the county from neighbors in the southeast, such as Imperial County and Mexico.

Although Monday's temperatures feel much cooler than the weekend, they are still above average, bringing warm, humid conditions throughout the county.

Forecast models show high chances of rain in Borrego, Mt. Laguna and El Centro by the end of Monday and into early Tuesday. Afternoon monsoonal storms could bring a chance of flooding in some areas.

Neighboring areas in Imperial County stretching out to southeast Yuma County will be under a flood watch starting at 1 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.

NWS reports that some areas may see moderate rainfall rates of 0.5 to 0.75 inches per hour on Monday afternoon.
