Three-year-old girl and her mother in critical condition after Russian attack on playground in Kherson

The younger of two girls injured alongside their family in a Russian strike on a playground in Kherson sustained multiple wounds all over her body. The girls' mother remains in an extremely serious condition and the older sister has undergone an operation.

Details: After the attack, the three-year-old girl was taken to the city of Mykolaiv with a severe blast injury and multiple wounds all over her body. Doctors operated on her there to remove shrapnel from her head.

Doctors are now trying to stabilise her condition so that she can be transferred to the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv.

Her six-year-old sister is being treated at Kherson Oblast Children's Hospital. She has also undergone an operation. Doctors have assessed her condition as moderate and say her life is not in danger.

The girls' mother is suffering from concussion and sustained shrapnel wounds to her arms, legs and abdomen, blast injuries and closed head injuries. She is in a serious condition.

The father of the family was killed in the attack. The couple have two other children, an adult daughter and a son under 18, who are now being cared for by social services.

Local volunteer Andrii Pietukhov has launched a fundraiser to support the family.

We are ready to help you with both evacuation and settling in a new place." Background: Russian forces struck a children's playground in the Korabelnyi district in Kherson on 27 May, injuring a mother and her two young daughters and killing the father of the family.
