Thousands of SDG&E customers left without power in the South Bay

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Over 3,000 San Diego Gas & Electric customers were reported to be without power in the South Bay on Sunday morning, according to the utility company's outage map.

The incident began around 11:50 p.m. Saturday night in Chula Vista. SDG&E officials noted online that the outage was caused by a vehicle that came into contact with an electric system. Crews were on scene making repairs for several hours, though the exact location was not disclosed.

As of 9 a.m., 3,171 customers remained without power in the South Bay. The estimated restoration time for the Chula Vista area was slated for 11 a.m. on Sunday. All power has since been restored.
