SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Looking for weekend plans that won't break the bank? There's a full lineup of free events happening across the region.

Here are some options:

San Diego Dark Sky Festival

Under the dark night skies in the rural hills of Julian, the annual Perseids meteor shower returns to light up the night at the San Diego Dark Sky Festival on Saturday. This free event, hosted by the Julian Dark Sky Network and held Menghini Winery, invites sky gazers to enjoy exhibitor booths, hands-on activities, and a tour of the sky using laser pointers. There will also be a food vendor for select hours.

Cine En El Parque: Free movie night at Chicano Park

This free outdoor film series, with the latest showing on Saturday evening, celebrates Chicano culture. A full-length film, "La Bamba," will be featured and paired with live music. There will also be local short films, muralists, and more. Some chairs will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and beach chairs. The event opens at 6 p.m., while the film will begin at 7:30 p.m.

World Bodysurfing Championships

This event will be held at the Oceanside Pier on Saturday and is free for spectators. Post up in the sand and cheer on 350-400 bodysurfers from all around the world. There will plenty of food and drink vendors on site, as well as booths with surf gear, art, and more. The competition starts at 6:30 a.m. and will last all day, meaning there's plenty of time to stop and enjoy the summertime festivities.

Pool Party at the Pendry San Diego

The Pool House at Pendry San Diego, located in the Gaslamp Quarter, is hosting a summer pool party on Sunday. Described by organizers one of "the most elegant and glamourous pool parties" in the city, attendees can enjoy specialty cocktails and music -- all while enjoying the sunshine poolside. The event begins at noon and ends at 6 p.m. For free entry, arrive before 2 p.m. All guests are required to be in pool attire.

28th Annual Lemon Festival

Downtown Chula Vista, which was once known as the “Lemon Capital of the World,” will host the 28th Annual Lemon Festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on on Saturday. This means Third Avenue will transform into a lemon-filled extravaganza complete with a lineup of live music across two stages. The free festival will also have food options, a beer and wine garden, arts and crafts, a kids’ zone, a lemon cookoff competition, and more.

San Diego International Children's Film Festival

Held at the San Diego Central Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, this family-friendly festival will showcase international films made by and for kids. Organizers say there will be a diverse selection of films meant to "entertain, educate, and spark imaginations." Though the event is free, attendees are encouraged to RSVP online for a preview of the screening lineup.

Silent DJ Night at Del Mar Highlands Town Center

For those who like dancing, enjoy a silent disco experience this Saturday night at no cost. Attendees will be given complimentary headphones rentals with a select channel options for different music tastes. There will be DJs spinning various genres, creating a unique atmosphere where you can groove to your own beat without loud speakers.

"Las Hermanas Iglesias: wontloversrevoltnow" art exhibit

Spanning the entire north campus of the Institute of Contemporary Art San Diego, sisters Lisa and Janelle Iglesias are inviting visitors into a conversation about care and community with their latest art exhibit. There will be existing works and new projects on display for guests to explore. This event is free, though donations are encouraged.
