The Pepsi Challenge comes to San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Pepsi has brought back its "The Pepsi Challenge" with stops all across the country to determine people's preferred cola.

The Pepsi Challenge has been an ongoing campaign since 1975 as part of its battle with The Coca-Cola Company. It re-launched earlier this year in New Orleans, Louisiana for Super Bowl LIX.

The multi-market tour will make a stop in San Diego on Friday, Oct. 3 at the San Diego State University football game from 4-7 p.m.

Participants are invited to take a blind taste test of two unmarked cups, one with Pepsi Zero Sugar and the other with Coke Zero Sugar. They will then decide which one is their preferred cola.

Unlike previous years, this year's Pepsi Challenge focuses on the zero-sugar versions of both colas.

Other stops on the tour include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, St. Louis, Phoenix and more.
