Teen among killed in Gasconade County crash

GASCONADE COUNTY, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) has reported two fatalities surrounding an SUV crash in Gasconade County.

According to MSHP, the crash occurred Sunday evening around 9:15 on County Road 4th Street, where a 2007 Jeep Liberty—going southbound—travelled off the right side of the roadway.

Officials say the vehicle struck three mailboxes, a utility pole and a driveway embankment.

The SUV ended up going airborne and when it struck the ground, the impact caused it to overturn. All four passengers were ejected from the vehicle, according to MSHP.

One of the passengers, a 17-year-old boy, was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Gasconade County coroner.

FOX 2 has learned that on Aug. 25, a day after the crash, a second passenger, a 22-year-old male, passed away from his injuries at the hospital. The identities of the victims have not been released.

MSHP says the other occupants, a 26-year-old male (the driver) and a 37-year-old male, remain at the hospital; their conditions are listed as serious.

According to an online traffic crash report, it says the driver of the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The other occupants were not believed to be wearing seatbelts either, MSHP says.
