Tax exemption on hygiene products kicks in next week

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Revenue is getting ready to implement a new law that exempts certain hygiene products from state and local sales taxes.

Under the new measure passed by the legislature and signed into law by Governor Mike Kehoe, sales tax will no longer be levied on:

  • Diapers (both adult and child)
  • Qualifying feminine hygiene products
  • Incontinence products

“It's going to save consumers a lot of money,” said Director of Revenue Trish Vincent. “Just think about if you had twins, how many diapers you have to buy.”

Vincent says her office has been busy contacting businesses to make sure retailers are ready for the launch date, which is Aug. 28, 2025.
