SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. can now add model to his extensive resume, thanks to New Era Cap Company. The 26-year-old is now the centerpiece in the Major League Baseball hat brand's latest “Nothing Beats Real” campaign.

“Honestly, when we’re looking at working with someone, he just checks every single box,” said Mark Maidment, senior vice president at New Era Cap Company.

“It really combines sport, fandom, fashion, music, and energy,” continued Maidment. “Honestly, that's us as a brand, and Tatis, and MLB.”

The campaign and commercial also feature six MLB superfans, each proudly representing their team and brought to life by Grammy-winning director Dave Meyers and creative agency FCB New York.

The coolest part -- it was all shot right here in San Diego.

“It was so much fun. There’s always been a collecting culture around caps and honestly, through the pandemic, it exploded,” said Maidment. "It makes my life and career incredibly fulfilling because truthfully, people connect through headwear. We just want people to continue doing that, we’re very thankful and proud to be a part of MLB, this campaign, and be a headwear company.”

The campaign will run through the end of the MLB regular season across multiple platforms, including ESPN, ABC, FOX, Hulu, Prime Video, and Peacock, as well as New Era’s and MLB’s own digital channels.
