Suspected DUI driver leads pursuit before crashing into vehicle in San Diego
(FOX 5/KUSI)-- A woman accused of driving under the influence and leading police on a pursuit through San Diego's College area crashed into another vehicle early Tuesday morning.
Police said the crash happened at Montezuma Road and Collwood Blvd. around 5:00 a.m.
Officers closed Montezuma Road to northbound and southbound traffic near Fairmount Ave. for a few hours.
According to the agency, a woman driving a black SUV initially ran a red light and did not pull over when police attempted to stop her.
A pursuit ensued northbound on Fairmount Ave. for almost two miles before the driver crashed into a blue vehicle at Collwood Blvd. and Montezuma Road.
Crews on the scene had to cut through the blue vehicle's roof to rescue the male driver. The man had to be transported on a stretcher, but is expected to be okay.
The woman who was driving the black SUV was arrested at the crash site and charged with suspected felony evasion and possible DUI.
