Study: Missouri among the worst states to have a baby
ST. LOUIS - If you're interested in welcoming a baby to the world, a new study suggests that future parents might want to avoid having one in Missouri.
Wallethub recently published a study that places Missouri among the worst states to have a baby. The rankings consider several factors, including birthing costs, healthcare rankings, baby friendliness, and family friendliness.
Wallethub ranks Missouri 36th out of the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia with a total score of 42.57.
Within the overall score, the Show-Me state was ranked 17th in birthing costs, 46th in healthcare, 47th in baby friendliness, and 27th in family friendliness. Additionally, Missouri is ranked 49th in midwives and OB-GYNs per capita, showcasing professionals who provide care during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
According to Wallethub, Massachusetts was ranked the best state to have a baby, followed by North Dakota, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Maine, and Rhode Island, respectively.
Mississippi, Alabama, and Nevada were among the worst states to have a baby, according to the list.
