Student injures teacher in attack at Northview High School
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A student is in custody after allegedly attacking a teacher Thursday morning at Northview High School.
The Special School District of St. Louis County confirmed a teacher was injured by a student on Thursday morning, but it's unclear what exactly happened or led up to the teacher's injury.
The Florissant Police Department reported that the teacher suffered a cut to an arm and classified the incident as an assault.
The teacher was rushed to a hospital and is being treated for minor injuries, while the accused student has been taken into custody, according to the school district and police. No other injuries were reported.
The school district noted, as a precaution, that Northview High School, North Tech High School and Ackerman Middle School were placed on a lockdown while the situation was addressed.
"The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. The lockdowns have been lifted, and classes resumed safely once law enforcement confirmed the area was secure," the Special School District added in a statement. "We are grateful for the swift actions of our staff, District security, and local law enforcement, whose immediate response helped ensure the safety of our school communities."
"At this time, there is no ongoing threat to students, staff, or the school community," said the Florissant Police Department in a statement. "The Florissant Police Department will continue to work closely with our schools to ensure the safety and security of everyone on campus."
