STL developers sued for failing to pay $517K after tornado repairs

ST. LOUIS - A roofing contractor has filed a lawsuit against St. Louis developers Victor Alston and Sid Chak-Raverty for failing to pay more than $517,000 for emergency repairs following the deadly May 16 tornadoes.

According to our partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Amigo Roofing and Contracting claims that the developers signed three separate agreements for emergency work at apartments on May 18 after the tornadoes that struck on May 16, but have not fulfilled their payment obligations.

Amigo Roofing and Contracting claims that the developers failed to pay $375,893.72 from one agreement and two separate payments of $70,689.32 from two other agreements. In the document, Amigo Roofing and Contracting claims that Alston and Chak-Raverty "fully intended to keep the insurance proceeds."

The developers, Victor Alston and Sid Chak-Raverty, have faced legal challenges before. Last year, the two were indicted for allegedly misrepresenting their use of minority contractors to gain city tax incentives. They have pleaded not guilty to those charges.
