STL County Council searching for new meeting place

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - The St. Louis County Council says it needs a new meeting space.

According to partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, County Executive Sam Page says there is not enough time to bring the headquarters building up to code before the deadline.

Clean inspectors said if the building did not have fire sprinklers installed and asbestos cleaned up by 2028, the county will need to move out.

Those two projects, requested by clean inspectors, could cost up to $100 million.

St. Louis County, however, looks to find a temporary location for council meetings by the end of 2025.
