St. Louis drug deal robbery ends in homicide, suspect charged

ST. LOUIS – A Florissant man is charged after a robbery during a drug deal ended with a homicide.

According to a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson, the shooting happened around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, in the 5600 block of Hebert Street in the city’s Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a Chevrolet Malibu flipped over. The victim in the vehicle, Jermain Williams Jr., had been shot. William was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 20.

Investigators learned Tyrell L. Pearson, 19, arranged to buy marijuana from Williams. Police said Pearson and others met Williams and then stole an unspecified amount of marijuana from him.

During the robbery, one of the assailants shot and fatally wounded Williams.

Pearson was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 21.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Pearson with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and two counts of armed criminal action. Pearson remains jailed without bond. Online court records do not show when Pearson will appear before a judge.
