St. Louis County man charged after road rage shooting, bomb threat

ST. LOUIS - A St. Louis County man faces felony charges in connection with road rage shooting that injured an elderly woman and a bomb threat made during his arrest.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged John Leb, 22, with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, making a terrorist threat, and two counts of armed criminal action.

The charges stem from at least two incidents reported between Sept. 8 to Oct. 2.

According to a St. Louis County Police Department probable cause statement, Leb fired at least three shots at a woman's car during an apparent "road rage incident," The victim, a woman in her 80s, was struck in the hand and treated for injuries at a hospital.

Leb fled the scene but was taken into custody sometime later. Investigators say he admitted to shooting at the car because "he was angry at how the elderly victim was driving."

During his arrest, Leb reportedly claimed to have a "ticking" bomb. Police discovered what appeared to be a pipe bomb, prompting an evacuation. However, the device was later determined to be inert.

Leb was taken into custody on a $250,000 cash-only bond, according to online Missouri court records.
